MVP Plasma Octane
Octane falls in the general stability lineage of Switch, Amp, Inertia, and Wave, with a slow-turning profile that holds long and straight until its fade finish. The 23mm Octane is designed to be relatively less understable than its 21.5mm counterpart Wave. Average throwers should see straight flights with a bit of shallow turn, while power throwers will be able to hyzerflip for max distance and tailwind lines.
DBL Helix Test Notes... The Plasma Octane is advertised as being a long distance hyzer flip driver. But I couldn't get it to dance like that for me. Instead the Plasma Octane proved to be a reliably overstable big rimmed driver that looks beautiful with its metallic sheen and complimenting swirls but lacked the graceful flight of comparable discs like the Wave that I was hoping to find. I think part of this might be due to the massive 13 speed rim that demands a bit more arm speed than I have to bring out the magic. Of course if I were able to get past my expectations I would enjoy the Plasma Octane as a consistent high speed trusty overstable driver that I could pull out for windy days or shots that need a hard fade.
