Discraft Paul McBeth Prototype Malita

This brand-new disc marks the latest evolution in McBeth’s lineup—and it’s a mold he’s been wanting for quite some time. The Malita fills a specific slot that Paul felt was missing: a midrange with subtle turn, high glide, and a comfortable feel for both backhand and forehand throws.

The goal was to create a straight flying small diameter disc—but with added control for touch shots in the woods, finesse approaches, and standstill throws. The rounded, beadless rim design was chosen to promote versatility and confidence in the hand across a wide range of grips. Pair that with a special prototype blend that delivers an extra tacky grip, and you have a disc that’s ready to perform in any condition.

DBL Helix Test Notes... The Proto Malita is a fantastic feeling small diameter straight flying mid. The plastic is really premium feeling compared to much of Discraft's stock ESP. the Malita feels noticeable small in the hand as well as it is both shallow in depth but also when held up in front of a Buzzz you can really see the diameter difference as well. The other noticeable difference when compared to a Buzzz is the rim profile difference. Where the Buzzz tends to be a bit blocky feeling in my hand the Malita is very rounded and smoth feeling. In regard to the flight the Malita struck me as sitting right between the Buzzz and the Buzzz SS. While the Buzz often flies for me like a 5 5 0 1 disc the Malita seems to have a touch less mid flight stability than the Buzzz. but not as much as the Buzzz SS. With that being said, the Malita is still very stable and straight and definitely not in the understable category. All in all then, if your like me and you struggled with the hand feel of the Buzzz, then the Malita just might be the needed fix. Another disc that shares flight numbers with the Malita as well as small diameter and shallow hand feel and rounded rim is the Origin from Discmania. However the Malita is definitely more overstable that the Origin in spite of their many other shared characteristics.
